We often receive requests from customers who want an even darker shade than smoked oak. That’s why we now offer our popular Wideboard in solid black-stained oak – an exclusive choice for those who prefer a wide, deep-black magnetic knife rack with a striking and elegant appearance.
Blackboard is made from solid oak or walnut and designed with multiple continuous rows of magnets running the full length, allowing you to make full use of the surface.
Unlike many other knife racks, Blackboard is not point-magnetic but fully magnetised from end to end, meaning you can easily hang 6–8 knives on a 40 cm model.
The wide design allows for more rows of magnets, resulting in up to 50% stronger magnetic force than our narrower versions. Blackboard can therefore hold even heavy chef’s knives securely and safely – regardless of size or weight.
The strong, continuous N52 neodymium bar magnets are invisibly embedded in the wood and arranged in multiple rows to ensure optimal adhesion with multiple contact points on each blade. This means your knives hang securely – without slipping, turning, or attracting each other.
At Rune-Jakobsen Design, we use no cheap hobby magnets or shortcuts. Every Blackboard rail is handcrafted with focus on both function and aesthetics, and all four rear edges are slightly chamfered to create a beautiful, floating shadow effect against the wall.
Sizes
Blackboard is available in lengths from 20 to 80 cm and widths of 10, 15, or 20 cm.
Finish
Unlike industrially spray-lacquered products, our black knife holders are hand-stained with a brush – a time-consuming process that gives the surface a lively and authentic expression. The fine traces of brushstrokes are a beautiful testimony to craftsmanship and make each knife holder unique.

All Blackboards come with concealed mounting, and the necessary fittings, screws, and wall plugs are included.
Please note that some knives require particularly strong magnets. If it turns out that your chosen product isn’t ideal for your knives, we’ll happily exchange it for another model. If in doubt, feel free to contact us before ordering.

We use only high-quality Neodymium magnets – custom made and imported directly from our trusted manufacturer.
While many knife holder brands rely on spot magnets or cheap disc magnets, we embed several uninterrupted rows of strong magnets inside the wood – strategically placed to ensure that each knife makes multiple contact points along the blade.
How Much Weight Can They Hold?
We’re often asked how many kilos our knife holders can support. The truth is, it depends on how it's measured and slight variations between models and designs.
However, all of our knife racks are guaranteed to have sufficient magnetic strength to securely hold the vast majority of kitchen knives available today.
It’s no coincidence that our knife holders are regarded as some of the strongest and most precisely made on the market.

In the rare case where a knife doesn’t adhere well to a standard rack – for example, very heavy knives or blades with low magnetic content – we offer the X-tra Strong Series. This version delivers approximately twice the magnetic force of our standard models.

All knife racks come with hidden mounting brackets and the necessary installation kit. If you prefer not to use screws – for example, on a tiled wall – we can supply the rack without mounting hardware so it can be installed using adhesive such as "No More Nails." Which length should I choose?
The length determines how many knives your rail can hold. A good rule of thumb is to line up your knives with the desired spacing. Then measure the total length – and you will have the minimum length of your new knife rail.
Which width is best?
The width is primarily a question of design, as the magnetic force is the same across all widths within the same series. However, if you have very large and heavy knives, we recommend a wider model. This provides a larger magnetic surface and ensures that your knives are even better secured.

All measurements in our webshop are given in centimeters (cm).
If you use inches (inches), you can easily convert with these formulas:
* 1 cm = 0.39 inch**
* 1 inch = 2.54 cm**
**Examples of conversion from cm to inches:**
* 20 cm ≈ 7.87 inch
* 40 cm ≈ 15.75 inch
* 60 cm ≈ 23.62 inch
* 80 cm ≈ 31.50 inch
**Examples of conversion from inches to cm:**
* 10 inch = 25.4 cm
* 20 inch = 50.8 cm
* 30 inch = 76.2 cm
We recommend using an online converter for accurate conversion.
All knife rails come with two hidden keyhole brackets on the back.
We use different types of keyhole fittings depending on the design, but the principle is the same.
2 screws are drilled into the wall to which the rail is attached. Screws + raw plugs are included when ordering.
If you want to mount without screws, you can use a mounting adhesive or strong double-sided tape. We usually recommend 'No More Nails' from Pattex, but any mounting adhesive will work as long as your nails are not too heavy and the wall is 100% flat.
Alternatively, we can place the keyhole brackets at a distance that matches two joints in a tiled wall. This simply requires that we be informed of the exact distance between two joints when ordering.
When ordering, please leave a note in the shopping cart so that I will make the back completely smooth without oil treatment so that the tape/adhesive sticks better.
(Please note that all warranties will be void if the knife rail is mounted without the use of mounting brackets.)
You can now get all RJ Woodworks products with copper details as an alternative to brass or aluminium for an additional charge depending on size and design.

We only use carefully curated FSC certified furniture wood. The primary woods are oak, smoked oak and walnut. In addition, we offer a number of special types of wood that are sold in conjunction with special orders, e.g. Teak, ash, chestnut, golden rain, cherry, wengé, zebrano, beech, etc.
We finish all products with a high-quality wood oil, but if you would prefer e.g. an oil with a white pigment, we can of course do that too - the desired final treatment can be mentioned under the remarks of the ordering.

For us, craftsmanship, materials and aesthetics are the focus. Our product images should give you an honest and inspiring impression of what you get – without unnecessary staging.
The vast majority of product photos in our webshop are therefore taken by ourselves – whether it is a grinder, a knife holder, a serving board or one of our exclusive textiles.
The images of our wooden products always show real products that we have handmade for a customer and photographed before they were delivered.

Currency, VAT & Prices
All prices in the webshop are displayed in your local currency. Prices for customers in the EU and Norway always include the applicable local VAT. For more information about customs and duties, see the section below.
Fixed, fair prices: We believe in the value of good craftsmanship, which is why our prices are the same year-round. We do not participate in sales periods like Black Friday, but instead offer fixed benefits:

When will the money be withdrawn?
- In-stock items: The amount is reserved on your account when ordering and is only deducted when we ship your package.
- Woodworks (custom wood products): As these products are handmade especially for you, the order is considered a binding order. The amount is therefore deducted when your order is approved and production has started. Should you regret your purchase before production has started, we will of course refund the full amount.

As many of our products are handmade, delivery times vary. Here is an overview:
- Woodworks (Rune-Jakobsen wood products): The expected delivery time is stated on the individual product page. If you have any questions before ordering, please contact Kari on tel. (+45) 42 43 23 76.
- Ceramics & certain kitchen knives (Ansø of Denmark & M-knives): Expect a delivery time of approximately 2-3 weeks.
- In-stock items (shipped within 1-2 business days): Applies to spice grinders, jewelry, most textiles and Japanese chef's knives.
- Especially for Læsø Plaid: Expect a delivery time of approximately 5-7 business days.

⏎ Returns & Complaints
30 Day Cancellation Policy
You have 30 days from receipt to notify us that you regret your purchase. After that, you have an additional 8 days to return the item. The right of withdrawal applies to all standard products.
Exception: For custom-made products, the right of withdrawal only applies if this has been agreed in writing in advance.

- Pack the item securely in unused and undamaged condition.
- Send the package to the address below. You will be responsible for the return shipping costs, unless it is a complaint.

Complaint
You have a 2-year warranty on manufacturing and material defects according to the Danish Sales Act. The warranty does not cover defects or wear and tear resulting from improper use, violence or lack of maintenance.
If you wish to make a complaint about an item, please contact us as soon as possible and no later than 14 days after you have discovered the fault. If the complaint is approved, we will of course cover the return costs.

According to the Danish Sales Act, Rune-Jakobsen Design grants a 2-year warranty from the invoice date for manufacturing and material defects (defects).
Complaints about defects or damage to delivered products must be made to Rune-Jakobsen Design within 14 days of receipt of the item(s).
The right of complaint does not cover errors, damage or wear and tear, directly or indirectly resulting from incorrect operation, incorrect maintenance, violence or unauthorized interventions.
If you cancel your purchase, you can use a shipping company of your choice and bear the costs associated with the return.
When returning due to a complaint, Rune-Jakobsen Design will cover the return costs.

Because our products are of EU origin, they are generally not subject to UK import duty. We provide all necessary documentation to ensure a smooth customs process.
VAT and Delivery
We are not registered for UK VAT and therefore do not charge VAT at checkout.

You will be contacted by the courier (typically DHL, UPS, or similar) and asked to pay VAT before the parcel is delivered.
