'Chefs board' - cutting board in endgrain
With the 'Chefs board' you get a unique board in an endgrain, that guaranteed will attract attention in the kitchen or on the dining table.
Chef's board is produced from carefully selected and sorted endwood sticks which are then assembled so that your board gets a symmetrical expression that makes it a small piece of art in and of itself.
Endwood is particularly suitable for cutting boards as the wood's fibers face the cutting surface, which is more gentle on your knives. In addition, endwood naturally closes scratches made form cutting, making the cutting board more durable.
An ordinary classic cutting board is usually cut along the veins of the tree. This makes the cutting board hard and durable, but also more dulls the knife faster than endwood.

Metal details?
By default, Chefs' board is made with brass details. If you want aluminium, you can write it as a note in the shopping basket.

The selection of handmade cutting and serving boards Rune-Jakobsen Design help you with your cooking and clothing, as well as any kitchen- or dining table.
We make everything from small spreaders to huge display boards, so you can definitely find a board with us that matches your wishes and needs.
The vast majority of serving and cutting boards on the market are mass produced in Asia or Eastern Europe.
With us, you will find Danish-produced boards, handmade in our joinery. The boards are produced individually and we make every effort to give each board a well-crafted, beautifully harmonious and individual expression.
The small difference that makes the big difference!
Unlike many other manufacturers of strawberry boards, we regard a board as a piece of furniture that must be produced with care.
We spend time on the visual expression and prioritize both coarse, medium and fine sanding with washing between each sanding, so that the end result is a beautiful board with a silky smooth finish that patinas beautifully and ensures you a board you can enjoy for many years without that it becomes rough and boring to look at and feel.
Only solid FSC certified furniture wood is used for all our boards. Likewise, the production of boards is under the control of the Danish Food Authority.

NOTE:
Wood is a living material that expands and contracts depending on temperature and humidity - unfortunately metal does not, so you will find that with boards with brass or aluminium, the metal will occasionally "stiff" a little - and other times it will be drawn accordingly into the tree. Hopefully, however, it will most often sit where it should as when the board was created.
When you order a unique board in the webshop without having "seen it in reality", there will always be some degree of uncertainty, as two boards are never the same or have the same visual expression - so perhaps the result was not quite as you imagined or expected.
Care and maintenance, cutting boards
CARE & MAINTENANCE
Even if you use our boards often, with the right treatment they will remain beautiful for many years. If you use the board as a cutting board, however, there will be scratches and marks in the wood - this cannot be avoided.
Please note that wood is a living material that expands and contracts depending on temperature and humidity - unfortunately metal does not, so you will find that with boards with brass or aluminium, the metal will occasionally protrude a little - and other times it will be drawn slightly into the wood. These changes occur temporarily as a response to temperature. Hopefully, however, it will most often sit where it should as when the board was created.
Wash the board by hand immediately after use, or wipe it with a wet/damp cloth. Remember to make it wet on both sides, otherwise it can warp - this especially applies to thin boards.
Limitations of Use.
● Do not put in the dishwasher● Do not use for long-term food storage
● Must not be used for purposes other than cooking/preparation for cooking
● May only be maintained with food grade cooking oil

The board can easily withstand general hand washing with dishwashing liquid, but the soap will gradually remove the oiling.
NOTE that boards in smoked oak can stain if they come into direct, long-term contact with light oak- or brass table tops.
You can give the board a thin layer of ordinary cooking oil on all surfaces from time to time - this will preserve the wood's glow. The board must be completely dry before you apply oil. Should the board nevertheless become a little "rough" to the touch over time, it is because the wood's fibers rise slightly on the surface.
You can make the board smooth again by sanding the wood gently in the direction of the grain with a fine-grained sandpaper with a grain size of 400 or higher, and then giving it a thin layer of common cooking oil (e.g. sunflower oil).
We only use carefully curated FSC certified furniture wood. The primary woods are oak, smoked oak and walnut. In addition, we offer a number of special types of wood that are sold in conjunction with special orders, e.g. Teak, ash, chestnut, golden rain, cherry, wengé, zebrano, beech, etc.
We finish all products with a high-quality wood oil, but if you would prefer e.g. an oil with a white pigment, we can of course do that too - the desired final treatment can be mentioned under the remarks of the ordering.
