Tear Drop – teardrop-shaped serving board with brass ring, Ø 35 cm

Tear Drop is a teardrop-shaped serving board in solid wood, treated with natural oil that brings out the deep colours and characterful grain of the wood. A handmade serving board from our own workshop in Denmark – ideal as a charcuterie board or cheese board.

Features:
The brass ring is the board's signature detail – a discreet glint of metal in the calm wood. The ring isn't just decoration: it works as a handle and for hanging, and it fits most standard candles, so the board can also serve as a candle holder and decorative centrepiece on the table.

With a diameter of 35 cm, Tear Drop is big enough for everything – snacks on the sofa, tapas for guests or the Friday pizza when it deserves to be served in style. When not in use, the board stands as a decorative element in the kitchen.

The board is assembled from several pieces of wood and will therefore differ slightly from the picture – grain and colour are always unique.

Quality:
All our cutting boards and serving boards are made by hand to order in our own workshop in Denmark – from FSC-certified solid furniture-grade timber, never veneer or laminate. The boards go through a long series of manual processes and are finally oiled with a natural, food-safe grapeseed oil that brings out the character of the wood and gives a durable, easy-care surface.

Oil the board when the wood starts to look dry – not by the calendar. The board can be sanded down and re-oiled many times over its lifetime.

Custom size or a different design?

Minor deviations from the standard sizes are made at no extra charge.

Niall Williams is an American immigrant in Denmark – and the founder and creative driving force behind Flat Cap Furniture.

Flatcap Furniture is a Danish brand with roots in the North Jutland landscape – a place where the pace is slower and where nature's shapes and materials are allowed to set the direction.

Here, ideas are born in the light over the fields, in the soft lines of the hills and in the peace that arises when you work with your hands and take your time.

The core of Flatcap Furniture is respect for good craftsmanship and for materials that age beautifully.

The products are created to be enjoyed and used every day – and to last for many years. The expression is simple, Nordic and honest: Clean surfaces, precise details and a finish that highlights the natural life of the wood.

It's furniture and interior design for homes where quality matters. For people who appreciate design that doesn't shout – but continues to feel right, even as time passes.

At the same time, we are clearly rooted in the Danish design tradition – with a penchant for clean lines, strong geometric shapes and modern twists that give the furniture a contemporary and personal expression.

About Our Wood Species

We only use carefully selected FSC certified furniture wood. The primary wood types are oak and walnut.

We finish all products with a food-approved oil.

PLEASE NOTE that we always try to create unique and well-crafted products with an exciting visual expression and play of colors. You should therefore take our photos as a guide and not as a guarantee of how the finished product will appear.

Remember that wood is a living material. No two pieces of wood are the same, so all product photos are indicative.

You can benefit from surfing around our website and seeing examples of products we have made in the different types of wood to get a better impression of the wood's color variations, structure and expression.

Oak

- is a classic and well-known type of wood. The color of the inner part of the trunk (heartwood) ranges from reddish to gray-brown depending on the type of oak, and it darkens with age and exposure to light. The outer part of the trunk (sapwood) is lighter and without as much color pigment.

Smoked oak

- is oak that undergoes a steam treatment, which results in the coloring of the tannic acid in the oak. We only use "real" smoked oak from a reputable supplier - i.e. we do not take shortcuts by using a dark stain or dark-colored oil. Therefore, our smoked oak can also vary in color expression from product to product.

Depending on the wood's own acid content, the color after treatment can vary from light honey brown to deep black. The smoked wood contains no harmful substances after treatment.

PLEASE NOTE that the color and color play as well as the color depth of the finished smoked oak may vary. Therefore, 100% uniformity cannot be expected throughout the product. If you don't care about the finished result, we will of course exchange it with a smile😊

Please contact us before ordering if you have any special requests for the smoked oak. We can tint it from very light to very dark depending on your wishes.

American walnut

- is a very beautiful wood with vibrant grain patterns that vary from light to dark brown with a, at times, dark purple tinge. The grain patterns, colors and structure of walnut wood vary greatly - but it is always beautiful..

About Our Product Photography

Real products, honest pictures

With us, craftsmanship, materials and aesthetics are at the heart of everything we do. Our product images are designed to give you an honest and inspiring impression of what you're getting – without unnecessary staging.

The vast majority of product photos in our webshop are therefore taken by us – whether it's a grinder, a magnetic knife holder, a serving board or one of our textiles. The images of our wooden products always show genuine, handmade products that we photograph before they are packed and sent to their new owners.

To give you a better idea of how the products will look in different homes and kitchens, we sometimes insert these original photos into AI-generated rooms or backgrounds. Only the background is artificial – the product itself is never altered or AI-generated. Every grain, edge, color, and detail you see belongs to the physical product we created.

We also occasionally receive photos from satisfied customers who give us permission to use them in the webshop. These photos provide an honest and inspiring insight into how our products look in real homes and environments.

No artificial product renderings. No misleading visual enhancements. Just real craftsmanship, photographed honestly.

We ship with Postnord/DPD, GLS, DHL or UPS, and you choose the carrier and service level yourself at checkout. Shipping is calculated by weight, dimensions and delivery address — we add no margin to shipping.

All orders are shipped from our workshop and warehouse in Denmark. For customers in the EU, Norway, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, VAT is included in the price at checkout.

EU: Local VAT is included — no customs duties, no fees.
Norway: Norwegian VAT is paid in the webshop (VOEC 3053342). Below 3,000 NOK: no customs duty, the order is shipped DAP. Above 3,000 NOK: any customs duty is calculated and paid in the webshop, the order is shipped DDP. No extra charges on delivery.
United Kingdom, Switzerland/Liechtenstein and USA: All orders are shipped DDP — VAT and any customs duties are paid at checkout. The price you see is the final price.
Australia: Shipped DAP. Under 1,000 AUD: no duties or GST. Over 1,000 AUD: duties and GST are collected by the carrier before delivery.
