All our cutting boards are handmade to order.
If you order today, your cutting board will be ready for shipment during week 3 (January 12th – 18th)
WOW is made from carefully selected and sorted staves, which are assembled so that the wood's natural grain patterns are put together in new ways and thus create a beautifully symmetrical and unique visual expression.
End grain is particularly suitable for cutting boards as the wood's fibers face the cutting surface, which is more gentle on your knives. In addition, endwood closes better after cutting scratches.
An ordinary classic cutting board is usually cut along the grain of the wood. This makes the cutting board hard and durable, but also blunts the knife to a greater extent than endwood.
If you want a board in other dimensions, you are very welcome to contact me for a special order.
Special wishes or questions?
The photos you find here are a selection of the many WOW boards I have made over time for various customers. No two WOWs are alike, so photos are indicative.
Most cutting boards on the market today are mass-produced in industrial facilities, often in Asia or Eastern Europe—where volume is prioritized over material quality and craftsmanship.
Each cutting board is made to order in our own woodworking studio in Denmark, near the North Sea—crafted from solid oak, smoked oak, or walnut, with a focus on functionality, material selection, and lasting finish.
We don’t keep stock. Every board is made individually and specifically for you. We carefully select each piece of wood for its grain, color, and natural expression—resulting in a unique, handcrafted product that’s made to last.
We consider our cutting boards a functional part of a modern kitchen—not just a tool, but an element of design.
It starts with sourcing the right wood, where visual character and grain structure are key. Each board then goes through a detailed multi-step sanding process—performed entirely by hand—to achieve a smooth, refined surface.
Finally, the board is treated with a natural, food-safe oil that enhances the wood’s depth and provides lasting protection.
Our cutting boards are designed for daily life—both visually and functionally. We use only solid FSC-certified hardwood, offering long-lasting durability and a patina that improves over time.
Our online shop features a curated range of standard sizes. If you have specific dimensions or preferences, we also offer small custom adjustments at no extra cost. Just leave your request in the order comment.
Wood is a natural material, and no two boards are exactly the same. If the finished board doesn’t meet your expectations, we offer a full return guarantee—even on custom-made pieces.
If you have any questions or would like a custom-sized cutting board, you are always welcome to contact us at:
If you have a smooth table where it is difficult to get cutting boards to stay in place, or if you want to store your cutting board on an induction hob, all of our boards can be supplied with non-slip rubber feet.
If you order a board together with the rubber feet, we will of course install them for you.

CARE & MAINTENANCE
Even if you use our boards often, with the right treatment they will remain beautiful for many years. If you use the board as a cutting board, however, scratches and marks will appear in the wood - unfortunately this cannot be avoided.
Please note that wood is a living material that expands and contracts depending on temperature and humidity - unfortunately metal does not, so you will find that with boards with brass or aluminium, the metal will occasionally "stud" a little - and other times it will be drawn accordingly into the tree. Hopefully, however, it will most often sit where it should as when the board was created.
Wash the board by hand immediately after use, or wipe it with a wet/damp cloth. Remember to wet the board on both sides and let it dry by placing it on its side, otherwise it may warp.
Limitations of Use.
● Do not put in the dishwasher● May only be maintained with food-approved cooking oil
In case of further questions, please feel free to contact us.
The board can easily withstand general. hand wash with washing-up liquid, but the soap will eventually remove the oiling.
NOTE that boards in smoked oak can "contaminate" if they come into direct, prolonged contact with ordinary light oak or brass table tops.
You can give the board a thin layer of ordinary cooking oil on all surfaces from time to time - this will preserve the wood's glow. The board must be completely dry before you apply oil. Should the board nevertheless become a little "rough" to the touch over time, it is because the wood's fibers rise slightly on the surface.
You can make the board smooth again by sanding the wood gently in the direction of the grain with a fine-grained sandpaper with a grain size of 400 or higher, and then giving it a thin layer of Alm. cooking oil (e.g. sunflower oil).
All measurements in our webshop are given in centimeters (cm).

We only use carefully selected FSC certified furniture wood. The primary wood types are oak and walnut.
We finish all products with a food-approved oil.
PLEASE NOTE that we always try to create unique and well-crafted products with an exciting visual expression and play of colors. You should therefore take our photos as a guide and not as a guarantee of how the finished product will appear.
Remember that wood is a living material. No two pieces of wood are the same, so all product photos are indicative.
You can benefit from surfing around our website and seeing examples of products we have made in the different types of wood to get a better impression of the wood's color variations, structure and expression.
If you are in doubt about choosing a type of wood for a product, you are very welcome to contact us to discuss the options. We are happy to advise and inspire 😊

For us, craftsmanship, materials and aesthetics are the focus. Our product images should give you an honest and inspiring impression of what you get – without unnecessary staging.
The vast majority of product photos in our webshop are therefore taken by ourselves – whether it is a grinder, a knife holder, a serving board or one of our exclusive textiles.
The images of our wooden products always show real products that we have handmade for a customer and photographed before they were delivered.
We also occasionally receive photos from satisfied customers who kindly allow us to use them in the webshop. These photos provide an honest and inspiring insight into how our products look in real homes and environments.
We are constantly expanding our product gallery. As many of our products come in a multitude of sizes and variations, we do not yet have photos of every single one. The image displayed when you make your selection primarily illustrates the chosen type of wood – not necessarily the specific size or design variation.
Wood is a living, natural material, and our passion is to create unique products with character. The grain and play of colours will therefore naturally vary from one product to the next. Please consider our photos as a source of inspiration and an indication of the high quality we deliver.
Do you have questions about a design, size, type of wood, or do you have special requests? Please don't hesitate to contact us at info@rune-jakobsen.dk, and we will guide you to the right choice before you order.

Why choose a board from Rune-Jakobsen Design?
Our range of handmade cutting boards help you with your cooking and dress up any kitchen or dining table.
We make everything from small chopping boards to huge display boards, so you can definitely find a cutting board with us that matches your wishes and needs.
The vast majority of cutting boards on the market are mass-produced in Asia or Eastern Europe - but with us you will only find hand-made, Danish-produced quality products in oak or walnut made in our own joinery.
The cutting boards are made individually to order, and we make every effort to give each board a beautiful, harmonious and individual look.
The small difference that makes the big difference!
Unlike many other cutting board manufacturers, we consider a cutting board as a piece of furniture that must be made with care.
We spend time creating a harmonious and visual expression. We prioritize spending time on both coarse, medium and fine sanding with washing down between each sanding, so that the end result is a cutting board with a silky smooth finish that patinas beautifully so you can enjoy it for many years without it becoming rough and tedious to look and feel.
In other words, we do not make "buy cheap - use and throw away" cutting boards
Only solid FSC certified furniture wood is used for all our designs. Likewise, the production of cutting boards is under the control of the Danish Food Agency.
RETURN RIGHT
When you order a unique cutting board in the webshop without having "seen it in reality", there will always be a built-in uncertainty as no two boards are ever the same or have the same expression - so perhaps the result was not quite as you had imagined or expected.
That is why there is a full right of return on all cutting boards - even if they are custom-made.
