Tessitura Toscana Telerie — Italian textile art from Florence since 1947

There are home textiles, and then there is Tessitura Toscana Telerie. Since 1947, the Florentine company has been producing tablecloths, tea towels, cushions, blankets and bed linen with a consistency and an aesthetic ambition that places them in a category of their own. At Rune-Jakobsen Design, we are the Scandinavian agent for Tessitura — and we have chosen them because they represent exactly what we are looking for: origin, quality and an expression that has been created with care.

Watercolor painting as a starting point

What sets Tessitura’s textiles apart visually is the process behind the motifs. The company collaborates with 15 different Italian designers and artists, who first paint the motifs in watercolors — and only then transfer them to prints on linen or cotton. This means that in every tea towel, tablecloth, and bed set, you can see the brush marks, the watercolor textures, and the vibrant, organic quality that only watercolor painting has. It’s not a filter. It’s the starting point.

The result is a universe of textiles that ranges from the elegant and stylish to the playful and humorous — and always with an unmistakable Italian aesthetic nerve.

Hemp — the natural starting point

Tessitura's linen textiles are light, elegant and versatile. Linen is the most resistant textile fibre in nature: hard-wearing, dimensionally stable, heat-regulating and with excellent moisture absorption properties. Tessitura uses exclusively European-grown linen — certified by CELC (European Confederation of Linen and Hemp) — grown without artificial irrigation or fertiliser, with respect for the soil and the ecosystem. European linen is generally considered the best in the world, thanks to the climate and generations of accumulated know-how throughout the production chain.

Highest quality cotton

For cotton textiles, Tessitura uses only the finest qualities of natural cotton from Egypt and the USA — chosen for their extremely long and thin fibers and very high resistance. Residues from production are biodegradable and do not harm the environment. All textiles — whether made of linen, hemp or cotton — are Oeko-Tex certified.

Sustainability as a practice, not a promise

Tessitura produces certified energy via solar panels over an area of 1,500 m² — an annual production of approximately 55,000 kWh, covering about half of the company's energy needs. On sunny days, excess energy is returned to the grid as renewable energy. The packaging is plastic-free where possible, and transparent packaging uses EVA-certified CSI recycled plastic.

It's sustainability thought through from the starta fiber for shipping — not a marketing stamp.

Lasts wash after wash

All Tessitura textiles are woven and sewn to the highest quality, so they retain their shape and color wash after wash. They are everyday textiles created to be used, not stored — and to become more beautiful over time.
