Terms and conditions

Here you will find a comprehensive overview of all terms and conditions for your purchase from Rune-Jakobsen Design. We have done everything to make it as clear and understandable as possible. You are always welcome to contact us if you have any questions.

💰 Prices, discounts and payment

Currency, VAT and prices

All prices in the webshop are displayed in your local currency. Prices for customers in the EU, UK, Switzerland and Norway always include the applicable VAT. For further information on customs and duties, please see the "Customs, VAT and Taxes" section below.

Fixed, fair prices

We believe in the value of good craftsmanship – and this is reflected in our prices, which are the same for all customers all year round. We do not participate in discount campaigns such as Black Friday, and you will not find discount codes for our shop on external sites or offer services.

It's a conscious choice: We don't want to discriminate against our customers. Instead of short-term or individual discounts, we offer quality products at fair prices — and these fixed benefits that always apply to everyone:

If you buy 3 or more tea towels, you automatically get a 10% discount.
Find great deals on discontinued models and prototypes in our outlet — the only place in the shop where items are sold at a discounted price.

💳 Payment

We offer secure payments with MasterCard, VISA, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Shop Pay and MobilePay, as well as a number of local payment methods that will automatically appear depending on your country. All payment information is transmitted encrypted (SSL) so that only you and your card issuer can read it.

When will the money be withdrawn?

Items in stock: The amount is reserved on your account when you place your order and is only withdrawn when we ship your package.
Woodworks (handmade wooden products made to order): As these products are made especially for you, the order is considered a binding pre-order. The purchase amount will be deducted as soon as your order is approved and production has started. Should you regret your purchase, we will of course refund you the full amount.

📦 Delivery

As many of our products are handmade and made to order, delivery times vary. You will find the current delivery time on each product page. Items in stock are usually shipped within 1-2 business days.

🚚 Shipping and prices

We offer flexible delivery options with GLS, DHL or UPS. The exact options and shipping providers depend on your location and are displayed during the ordering process.

Shipping costs

Shipping costs depend on your location and the weight of the shipment. Here is a summary of our starting prices — the final price is always calculated at checkout:

Denmark: 49 DKK to parcel shop / 69 DKK to private address. Free shipping on orders over 2,500 DKK.
EU countries: From 9 EUR.
Norway: DDP from 159 NOK. Free shipping on orders over 4,000 NOK.
United Kingdom: DDP from 14 GBP.
Switzerland / Liechtenstein: DDP from 19 CHF.
USA: DDP from 35 USD.
Canada: From 49 CAD.
Australia: From 85 AUD.
New Zealand: From 89 NZD.
Rest of the world: From 35 USD.

🛃 Customs, VAT and taxes

We ship all items from our workshop and warehouse in Denmark. Below you can see what this means for you — find your country and read exactly what applies.

🇪🇺 Customers from EU countries

For orders from an EU country, VAT is automatically adjusted to your local rate, and there are of course no customs or import fees within the EU. The price you see at checkout is the final price.

🇳🇴 Customers from Norway

We are VAT registered in Norway (VOEC 2060051) and collect Norwegian VAT and any customs duties directly in the webshop.

Products with a value of less than 3,000 NOK are not subject to customs duties.
Products with a value of over 3,000 NOK may be subject to customs duties, depending on the product type. If this applies to your order, the customs duties will be calculated at checkout — you will not pay anything extra upon delivery.

We ship all orders Delivered Duty Paid (DDP). This means that VAT and any import duties have been paid in advance in the webshop. The price you see at checkout is the final price — no unexpected fees, no customs delays, just hassle-free delivery straight to your door.

In rare cases, it may happen that the shipping company mistakenly tries to collect customs duties or VAT again upon delivery, even though everything has already been paid. Should this happen, please contact us immediately at info@rune-jakobsen.dk so that we can help you further. In most cases, the simplest solution is for you to pay the amount collected to the shipping company, after which we will immediately refund you the full amount.

🇨🇭 Customers from Switzerland and Liechtenstein

We ship all orders DDP (Delivered Duty Paid). Swiss VAT (8.1%) and any customs duties are calculated and paid directly at checkout — the total price shown is the final price. There are no additional fees charged upon delivery.

In rare cases, it may happen that the shipping company mistakenly tries to collect VAT or customs duties again upon delivery, even though everything has already been paid. Should this happen, we ask that you contact us immediately at info@rune-jakobsen.dk so that we can help you further. In most cases,In this case, the simplest solution is for you to pay the amount charged to the shipping company, after which we will immediately refund you the full amount.

🇬🇧 Customers from the UK

We are VAT registered in the UK (GB 086 1839 80) and UK VAT is charged directly at checkout — just like in a UK store.

All orders are shipped DDP (Delivered Duty Paid). Any customs and import duties are calculated and paid in advance in the webshop, so the price you see at checkout is the final price. No hidden fees, no customs delays — just hassle-free delivery straight to your door.

🇺🇸 Customers from the USA

All orders are shipped DDP (Delivered Duty Paid). Duties and import taxes are calculated and paid directly at checkout — so you know the total price before you order. No US sales tax is charged. The price you see at checkout is the final price: no hidden fees, no customs delays, just hassle-free delivery straight to your door.

In rare cases, it may happen that the shipping company mistakenly tries to collect customs duties or taxes again upon delivery, even though everything has already been paid. In most cases, the simplest solution is for you to pay the amount collected to the shipping company, after which we will immediately refund you the full amount.

🇦🇺 Customers from Australia

We ship DAP (Delivered At Place) to Australia and GST is not charged at checkout. Whether your order will be subject to tax upon arrival depends on one simple threshold:

Orders under AUD 1,000: No duty, no GST, no fees. Your order is delivered directly to your door at no additional cost — the price at checkout plus shipping is all that matters.

Orders over AUD 1,000: Australian authorities charge import duties and GST, which the carrier will settle with you before delivery. Here's how it's calculated:

Customs duty: approximately 5% of the price of the goods (the rate depends on the type of goods).
GST: 10% of goods + freight + customs duty.
Processing fee: a fixed fee for customs clearance from authorities and the shipping company, typically AUD 100–200 total.

Calculation example: You order goods for AUD 1,600 with AUD 150 in shipping.

Duty: 5% of 1,600 = AUD 80
GST: 10% of (1,600 + 150 + 80) = AUD 183
Processing fee: approx. AUD 100–200
Total import costs: approx.. AUD 360–460 — on top of what you paid at checkout.

Good to know: The limit applies per shipment. So if your order is just over AUD 1,000, it may be best to either keep the order below the limit or add a little more to your cart so that the import costs are spread over a larger purchase — the processing fee is the same whether the order is AUD 1,100 or AUD 3,000.

🇨🇦 Customers from Canada

We ship DAP (Delivered At Place) to Canada. Canadian VAT (GST/HST) and any handling fee will be charged by the shipping company upon import.

All of our products — with the exception of the Japan collection — are of EU origin and can therefore be imported duty-free under the EU-Canada Free Trade Agreement (CETA). Products from our Japan collection may be subject to customs duties at the regular Canadian rates.

🌍 Customers from other countries

For other countries outside the EU, orders are shipped DAP (Delivered At Place). This means that any import duties, local VAT and handling fees will be collected by the shipping company when the goods arrive in your country. These fees are set by your local authorities and are beyond our control. Many countries have a threshold value below which orders are exempt - if in doubt, please check the rules with your local customs authorities or write to us before ordering.

↩️ Returns and complaints

30-day right of withdrawal

You have a 30-day right of withdrawal on all products when you shop with us — including custom-made Woodworks products. You have 30 days from the date of receipt of the item to notify us that you wish to cancel your purchase, and then 14 days to return the item.

How to return

Please notify us of your return at info@rune-jakobsen.dk .
Pack the item securely, in unused and undamaged condition.

You are responsible for the return shipping costs, unless it is a complaint. Danish customers can order a return label via Shipmondo here (only applies to cancellations).

Once we have received the returned item, we will refund you the full purchase price.

Complaint

According to the Danish Sales Act, you have a 2-year warranty on manufacturing and material defects. The warranty does not cover defects or wear and tear caused by improper use, damage or lack of maintenance.

If you discover a fault or defect in your item, please contact us as soon as possible and within a reasonable time after you have discovered the defect. In the event of a justified complaint, we will of course cover the costs of return shipping.
