With the 'Chefs board' you get a unique board made of end grain wood that is guaranteed to attract attention in the kitchen or on the dining table.
Chef's board is made from carefully selected and sorted end wood slats, which are assembled so that the wood's natural grain patterns are combined in new ways, thus creating a unique symmetrical visual expression.
The board is completed with a straight handle at each end, which is adorned with a transverse brass detail above and below the handle.
End wood is particularly suitable for cutting boards because the wood's fibers face the cutting surface, which is gentler on your knives. End wood also seals cuts better.
A regular classic cutting board is usually cut along the grain of the wood. This makes the cutting board hard and durable, but also dulls the knife to a greater extent than end wood.
Note:
Each Chefs Board is handmade from end wood, which means there will always be natural variations in color, grain and expression.
The product photos on the page show examples of Chefs Board cutting boards that I have made for customers around the world over the years. They have been selected to give a realistic impression of the variation in design and the wide range of wood character.
I always strive to ensure that each cutting board has a beautiful, harmonious and balanced overall impression – with the same character and high level of craftsmanship as in the product images.
If the finished result does not match your expectations, you naturally have the right to return and receive a full refund of the purchase amount.
A quality-conscious alternative to standard products
The vast majority of cutting boards on the market today are manufactured industrially in large series – where pace and volume are often prioritized over material quality and processing.
We have chosen a different approach.
Made to order in our own carpentry workshop
Each cutting board is made on order in our own carpentry workshop in North Jutland, Denmark – in solid oak, smoked oak or walnut.
We do not pick your order from a warehouse. If you order a board, we will manufacture it specifically for you.
This means that we actively consider grain patterns, color play and structure, so that you get a personally made cutting board with its own expression – and a result that is unmatched.
Precision, aesthetics and good craftsmanship
We consider our cutting boards an integral part of the modern kitchen, where details are crucial.
The wood is selected with a focus on balance and overall impression, after which it is cut and assembled in a way that ensures high dimensional stability and a unique visual expression.
Each board then undergoes a multi-step sanding process, done by hand, to achieve a silky smooth and comfortable surface.
Finally, the board is treated with a natural, food-grade oil, which protects the surface and highlights the structure and depth of the wood.
Made with everyday use in mind
A cutting board from us is designed to be used and enjoyed every day – functionally as well as visually.
We work exclusively with certified, solid furniture wood and strive for solutions that last for many years and patina beautifully over time.
Standard formats and individual adaptations
In the webshop you will find a selection of well-designed standard formats.
If you have special requests for dimensions or proportions, we offer minor adjustments at no additional cost. Simply state your wishes when ordering.
Right of return – also for custom production
Wood is a living material and no two cutting boards are the same.
Should the expression against expectations not meet your expectations, we offer Full return policy – also on custom-made cutting boards. This is our way of ensuring security in the purchasing process.

CARE & MAINTENANCE
Even if you use our boards often, with the right treatment they will remain beautiful for many years. If you use the board as a cutting board, however, scratches and marks will appear in the wood - unfortunately this cannot be avoided.
Please note that wood is a living material that expands and contracts depending on temperature and humidity - unfortunately metal does not, so you will find that with boards with brass or aluminium, the metal will occasionally "stud" a little - and other times it will be drawn accordingly into the tree. Hopefully, however, it will most often sit where it should as when the board was created.
Wash the board by hand immediately after use, or wipe it with a wet/damp cloth. Remember to wet the board on both sides and let it dry by placing it on its side, otherwise it may warp.
Limitations of Use.
● Do not put in the dishwasher● Do not use for long-term food storage
● Do not use for purposes other than cooking/preparation for cooking
● May only be maintained with food-approved cooking oil
In case of further questions, please feel free to contact us.
The board can easily withstand general. hand wash with washing-up liquid, but the soap will eventually remove the oiling.
NOTE that boards in smoked oak can "contaminate" if they come into direct, prolonged contact with ordinary light oak or brass table tops.
You can give the board a thin layer of ordinary cooking oil on all surfaces from time to time - this will preserve the wood's glow. The board must be completely dry before you apply oil. Should the board nevertheless become a little "rough" to the touch over time, it is because the wood's fibers rise slightly on the surface.
You can make the board smooth again by sanding the wood gently in the direction of the grain with a fine-grained sandpaper with a grain size of 400 or higher, and then giving it a thin layer of Alm. cooking oil (e.g. sunflower oil).
All measurements in our webshop are given in centimeters (cm).
If you use inches (inches), you can easily convert with these formulas:
* 1 cm = 0.39 inch**
* 1 inch = 2.54 cm**
**Examples of conversion from cm to inches:**
* 20 cm ≈ 7.87 inch
* 40 cm ≈ 15.75 inch
* 60 cm ≈ 23.62 inch
* 80 cm ≈ 31.50 inch
**Examples of conversion from inches to cm:**
* 10 inch = 25.4 cm
* 20 inch = 50.8 cm
* 30 inch = 76.2 cm
We recommend using an online converter for accurate conversion.
We only use carefully selected FSC certified furniture wood. The primary wood types are oak and walnut.
We finish all products with a food-approved oil.
PLEASE NOTE that we always try to create unique and well-crafted products with an exciting visual expression and play of colors. You should therefore take our photos as a guide and not as a guarantee of how the finished product will appear.
Remember that wood is a living material. No two pieces of wood are the same, so all product photos are indicative.
You can benefit from surfing around our website and seeing examples of products we have made in the different types of wood to get a better impression of the wood's color variations, structure and expression.
If you are in doubt about choosing a type of wood for a product, you are very welcome to contact us to discuss the options. We are happy to advise and inspire 😊

Real Products, Honest Pictures
For us, craftsmanship, materials and aesthetics are the focus. Our product images should give you an honest and inspiring impression of what you get – without unnecessary staging.
The vast majority of product photos in our webshop are therefore taken by ourselves – whether it is a grinder, a knife holder, a serving board or one of our exclusive textiles.
The images of our wooden products always show real products that we have handmade for a customer and photographed before they were delivered.
We also occasionally receive photos from satisfied customers who kindly allow us to use them in the webshop. These photos provide an honest and inspiring insight into how our products look in real homes and environments.
A Guide to Variants
We are constantly expanding our product gallery. As many of our products come in a multitude of sizes and variations, we do not yet have photos of every single one. The image displayed when you make your selection primarily illustrates the chosen type of wood – not necessarily the specific size or design variation.
Every Piece of Wood is Unique
Wood is a living, natural material, and our passion is to create unique products with character. The grain and play of colours will therefore naturally vary from one product to the next. Please consider our photos as a source of inspiration and an indication of the high quality we deliver.
Any questions? We're happy to help.
Do you have questions about a design, size, type of wood, or do you have special requests? Please don't hesitate to contact us at info@rune-jakobsen.dk, and we will guide you to the right choice before you order.

Why choose a board from Rune-Jakobsen Design?
Handcrafted chopping boards in cabinetmaker quality
Our range of handcrafted chopping boards is designed to make everyday cooking easier – while enhancing both kitchen and dining table. We produce everything from compact, functional boards to large presentation and serving boards, ensuring you can find a chopping board that matches your needs and preferences.
Most chopping boards on the market are mass-produced in Asia or Eastern Europe. With us, however, you will find exclusively handcrafted quality products, made in Denmark from FSC-certified furniture-grade oak or walnut, and produced in our own workshop.
Each board is individually made
Every chopping board is made individually to order. We take great care to give each board a balanced, harmonious and distinctive character. It is the small details that make the real difference.
Unlike many other manufacturers, we regard a chopping board as a piece of furniture – and treat it accordingly. Time is invested in achieving a visually coherent and well-considered design.
Silky-smooth surface – made to last
Each chopping board goes through a meticulous sanding process in several stages: coarse, medium and fine sanding, with careful cleaning between each step. The result is a silky-smooth surface that develops a beautiful patina over time and remains pleasant to use and look at for many years.
In other words, we do not produce “buy cheap – use and discard” products.
Materials and food safety
All our designs are made exclusively from FSC-certified furniture-grade timber. In addition, the production of our chopping boards is subject to inspection by the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration, ensuring that the products are safe for contact with food.

Full right of return – even on made-to-order boards
When ordering a unique chopping board online without having seen it in person, there will always be a degree of uncertainty. No two boards are ever the same – the grain and character of the wood vary naturally, and the final result may therefore differ slightly from expectations.
For this reason, we offer a full right of return on all chopping boards – even those made to order.
