All our knife holders are handmade to order.
If you order today, your knife rail will be ready for delivery during week 3 (January 12th – 18th)
The cork we use is a 100% natural material that is sustainably grown and harvested in Portugal.
Cork is impermeable to water and air. It protects against bacteria and harmful microorganisms and is a soft and delicious surface for your knife blades.
The magnets are invisibly encased in the wood and distributed in several rows so that you achieve optimal adhesion with several contact points on the knife blade. This prevents your knives from "spinning" around on the rail and being attracted to each other.
Read more about how our knife rails differ from other products on the market.
The knife rail is 45mm wide and protrudes approximately 25mm from the wall. As a standard, it can be ordered in lengths between 25 and 60 cm.
If you would like a knife rail in special dimensions, please contact us.
In a market dominated by mass-produced knife racks and blocks, we have consciously chosen a different path.
Each knife holder is made to order in our small, specialized woodworking studio – crafted with care, respect for the materials, and in close dialogue with you as the customer.
This means you'll only find exclusive, handcrafted knife holders here – designed with equal focus on function and aesthetics.
Our knife holders are considered among the strongest and most refined on the market.
For nearly 10 years, we’ve been crafting and delivering custom-made knife racks and blocks to private customers across the globe. Every piece is made to order in our small workshop, beautifully located in the northernmost part of Denmark.
Here, Kari and I work with care, precision, and dedication – always keeping your specific needs and preferences at the center of the process.
Unlike traditional solutions, our knife holders are fully magnetic. This allows you to position your knives anywhere on the surface – with no limitations and no risk of sliding or clumping together.
We use only high-quality Neodymium magnets – custom made and imported directly from our trusted manufacturer.
While many knife holder brands rely on spot magnets or cheap disc magnets, we embed several uninterrupted rows of strong magnets inside the wood – strategically placed to ensure that each knife makes multiple contact points along the blade.
We’re often asked how many kilos our knife holders can support. The truth is, it depends on how it's measured and slight variations between models and designs.
However, all of our knife racks are guaranteed to have sufficient magnetic strength to securely hold the vast majority of kitchen knives available today.
It’s no coincidence that our knife holders are regarded as some of the strongest and most precisely made on the market.
In the rare case where a knife doesn’t adhere well to a standard rack – for example, very heavy knives or blades with low magnetic content – we offer the X-tra Strong Series. This version delivers approximately twice the magnetic force of our standard models.
We view our knife holders as functional pieces of furniture – and that mindset is reflected in every step of the process.
Every detail matters: from the carefully selected FSC-certified oak or walnut to the meticulous construction and final hand-sanding that creates a smooth, elegant surface designed to age gracefully.

Each piece is finished with an eco-friendly furniture oil and discreetly stamped with our signature – Rune-Jakobsen – as a mark of quality and responsible craftsmanship.
Our webshop features a range of standard designs in fixed sizes – including wall-mounted knife racks and freestanding blocks. But we also offer fully customized solutions made to your measurements and preferences.
Minor adjustments to dimensions or mounting hardware are included at no extra charge. We’re also happy to offer non-binding advice if you have special requests regarding mounting, materials, or design.
All knife racks come with hidden mounting brackets and the necessary installation kit. If you prefer not to use screws – for example, on a tiled wall – we can supply the rack without mounting hardware so it can be installed using adhesive such as "No More Nails." Just leave a note at checkout with your request.
We understand that ordering a handmade product online without seeing it in person can feel uncertain. That’s why we offer a full return policy – even on custom-made items. If the final result doesn’t meet your expectations, we’ll take it back – no questions asked.
We don’t create disposable products – we create lasting, beautiful pieces with soul and character. Our goal is to provide you with a knife holder that not only serves its function but enhances your kitchen aesthetically – for many years to come.
Browse our collection online – or get in touch directly if you’re looking for something truly unique.
If you have any questions or are dreaming of a custom-made knife holder, you are always welcome to contact us by email info@rune-jakobsen.dk
Small adjustments to our standard sizes are, of course, made at no extra cost.
The length determines how many knives your magnetic rack can hold. A simple method is to place your knives in a row with the spacing you prefer. Then measure the total width — this will give you the minimum length your new knife rack should have.
We design our racks so that a standard 4.5 cm model has more than enough strength for the vast majority of kitchen knives. The width is primarily a design choice, as the magnetic strength is identical across all widths within the same series.
If you have very large or heavy knives, we recommend choosing a wider or X-tra Strong model. This provides a larger magnetic contact surface and ensures that your knives stay even more securely in place.
If you’re unsure which rack to choose, you’re always welcome to contact me: torben@rune-jakobsen.dk
All measurements in our webshop are given in centimeters (cm).
If you use inches (inches), you can easily convert with these formulas:
* 1 cm = 0.39 inch**
* 1 inch = 2.54 cm**
**Examples of conversion from cm to inches:**
* 20 cm ≈ 7.87 inch
* 40 cm ≈ 15.75 inch
* 60 cm ≈ 23.62 inch
* 80 cm ≈ 31.50 inch
**Examples of conversion from inches to cm:**
* 10 inch = 25.4 cm
* 20 inch = 50.8 cm
* 30 inch = 76.2 cm
We recommend using an online converter for accurate conversion.
All knife rails come with two hidden keyhole brackets on the back.
We use different types of keyhole fittings depending on the design, but the principle is the same.

2 screws are drilled into the wall to which the rail is attached. Screws + raw plugs are included when ordering.
If you want to mount without screws, you can use a mounting adhesive or strong double-sided tape. We usually recommend 'No More Nails' from Pattex, but any mounting adhesive will work as long as your nails are not too heavy and the wall is 100% flat.
Alternatively, we can place the keyhole brackets at a distance that matches two joints in a tiled wall. This simply requires that we be informed of the exact distance between two joints when ordering.
When ordering, please leave a note in the shopping cart so that I will make the back completely smooth without oil treatment so that the tape/adhesive sticks better.
(Please note that all warranties will be void if the knife rail is mounted without the use of mounting brackets.)
To keep both your knives and your knife holder in the best possible condition, always place the knives only when they are completely clean and absolutely dry. Moist blades can, over time, damage the surface and leave marks.
Wipe your magnetic knife rack or knife block regularly with a slightly damp cloth and avoid using detergents or harsh chemicals. If needed, refresh the surface with a soft cloth and a small amount of natural wood oil.
Avoid placing the product near strong heat sources or in direct sunlight, as this may dry out the wood and cause discoloration over time.
With proper care, your knife holder will retain its beautiful appearance and functionality for many years.
We only use carefully selected FSC certified furniture wood. The primary wood types are oak and walnut.
We finish all products with a food-approved oil.
PLEASE NOTE that we always try to create unique and well-crafted products with an exciting visual expression and play of colors. You should therefore take our photos as a guide and not as a guarantee of how the finished product will appear.
Remember that wood is a living material. No two pieces of wood are the same, so all product photos are indicative.
You can benefit from surfing around our website and seeing examples of products we have made in the different types of wood to get a better impression of the wood's color variations, structure and expression.
If you are in doubt about choosing a type of wood for a product, you are very welcome to contact us to discuss the options. We are happy to advise and inspire 😊

For us, craftsmanship, materials and aesthetics are the focus. Our product images should give you an honest and inspiring impression of what you get – without unnecessary staging.
The vast majority of product photos in our webshop are therefore taken by ourselves – whether it is a grinder, a knife holder, a serving board or one of our exclusive textiles.
The images of our wooden products always show real products that we have handmade for a customer and photographed before they were delivered.
We also occasionally receive photos from satisfied customers who kindly allow us to use them in the webshop. These photos provide an honest and inspiring insight into how our products look in real homes and environments.
We are constantly expanding our product gallery. As many of our products come in a multitude of sizes and variations, we do not yet have photos of every single one. The image displayed when you make your selection primarily illustrates the chosen type of wood – not necessarily the specific size or design variation.
Wood is a living, natural material, and our passion is to create unique products with character. The grain and play of colours will therefore naturally vary from one product to the next. Please consider our photos as a source of inspiration and an indication of the high quality we deliver.
Do you have questions about a design, size, type of wood, or do you have special requests? Please don't hesitate to contact us at info@rune-jakobsen.dk, and we will guide you to the right choice before you order.

It requires knowledge and experience to choose the right type of magnets and place them invisibly in the wood so that full magnetism is achieved throughout the length/width of the holder as well as optimal attachment of the knife blade so that the knife can be easily removed from the block or rail without using unnecessary force.
It is the know-how that characterizes the knife holders from Rune-Jakobsen Design.
