Defined – wide magnetic knife rail in multiple sizes and wood species
W tym podatek. Koszt dostawy przy kasie
All knife holders are individually handcrafted to order.
If you order today, your knife rail will be ready for delivery during week 35 (August 24th - 30th).
Do you want the freedom to combine and present your knives in a flexible way? Then DEFINED might be the answer.
DEFINED is a strong, wide knife magnet that comes in widths of 10, 18 or 28 cm. The thickness is approx. 25 mm
There is an extra row of magnets in 18 cm and 28 cm widths so they have 50% increased pulling power compared to the 10 cm version.
The width allows you to creatively place your knives on the board, while presenting your knife blades on a beautiful background of solid oak, smoked oak or walnut.
DEFINED has a brass or aluminium rail inlaid across the grain of the wood at each end, providing a cool graphic "framing" of your knives on the board. Defined is magnetic along its entire length between the two rails.
The edges of DEFINED are all cut at a bevel, creating a beautiful shadow effect against the wall while also giving you more room for your hand when you need to remove the knives from the board.
Powerful magnets are invisiblegt encapsulated in the wood and distributed in several rows, so your knives stay hanging regardless of the size and weight of your knives.

Handmade in Denmark – chosen by customers worldwide
For more than 10 years, we have designed and custom-made knife rails and knife blocks for customers all over the world.
Through thousands of knife holders delivered to customers in Denmark, Europe, the USA and Australia, we have built a deep understanding of both function, materials and individual needs.
All products are made individually to order in our workshop in northernmost Denmark, where we – Kari and Torben – are personally responsible for the design and the entire manufacturing process.
This means:
- No mass production
- No intermediaries
- Direct contact with those who manufacture the product
- Full responsibility for results and finish
The finish of the knife holders is achieved through a wide range of manual processes that highlight the natural character of the wood and provide a silky smooth surface with long durability.
Fully magnetic design – free placement and secure hold
Our knife holders differ significantly from traditional solutions by being fully magnetic.
They are built with continuous rows of powerful neodymium magnets along the entire length of the knife rail and the width of the knife block. This means that you can utilize every centimeter – on a 40 cm knife rail you can typically place 6–8 kitchen knives.
The magnets are invisibly encapsulated in the wood and distributed in several layers, so that each knife blade comes into contact with several magnets simultaneously. The result is a stable and secure hold, where the knives do not slip, turn or attract each other.
Gentle storage of your knives
A good knife holder is not only about storage – but also about protecting your knives.
When knives hang freely on a magnetic knife holder, you avoid the contact between knife blades that often occurs in drawers or traditional knife blocks. This reduces the risk of minor damage to the edge and helps the knife stay sharp for longer.
At the same time, the knives are always visible and easily accessible, making work in the kitchen both more efficient and manageable.
More hygienic than traditional knife holders
ThreadOptional knife holders can be difficult to clean, and moisture or food residue can accumulate in the openings over time.
With a magnetic knife holder, the knives hang freely and are ventilated, making cleaning simple and providing a better opportunity to keep both knives and holders dry and clean.
It is a solution preferred by both chefs and food enthusiasts.
Powerful magnets developed for the purpose
We only use powerful neodymium magnets, which are manufactured to our specifications and imported directly from the manufacturer.
Do they hold heavy knives?
All of our knife rails are designed to hold the vast majority of kitchen knives securely.
In the rare cases where a knife is unusually heavy or has low magnetic content, we offer our X-tra Strong series, which has approximately double the magnetic attraction compared to the standard models.
We are happy to advise you so that you get the solution that best suits your knives.
Natural materials and sophisticated finishes
We consider our knife holders as functional furniture – and this is reflected in the entire process.
Each model is made from carefully selected FSC-certified oak or walnut. The wood is processed, sanded and finished with great precision, so that the surface appears harmonious, pleasant to the touch and resistant to daily use.
Finally, an environmentally friendly furniture oil is applied, which protects the wood and highlights its natural structure. Each product is discreetly stamped with our signature – Rune-Jakobsen – as documentation of origin and responsible production.
Standard or customized – at no extra cost
In the webshop you will find a selection of proven standard designs.
But we also offer custom-made solutions:
- Special measures
- Fitting of fittings
- Special suspension solutions
Minor adjustments are carried out at no additional cost, and we are happy to advise on the optimal solution for your kitchen.
Flexible wall mounting
All knife rails are supplied with concealed fittings and necessary mounting hardware.
If you want to install without screws – for example on tiles – we can manufacture the rail without suspension, so that it can be installed with assembly adhesive such as No More Nails.
Simply write your wishes in the comments box when ordering.
100% satisfaction or your money back
We know that it takes trust to order a handmade product without having it in your hands first.
That's why we offer a full return policy – even on custom-made knife holders. If the product doesn't meet your expectations, we'll of course take it back and you'll get your money back.
The small difference that makes a big difference
The best products are often the ones you hardly notice in everyday life – because they just work.
Our knife holders are created with that in mind. They give your knives a safe and elegant place, make them easily accessible in daily work and at the same time add a warm and natural look to the kitchen.
A simple solution, executed with care.
Personal Customer Service
Our customer service is not a call centre or an AI chatbot. It is Kari or Torben.
When you contact us, you receive a personal reply from someone who knows the products and can advise on dimensions, materials, magnet strength, delivery, care and custom orders. If we cannot answer immediately, we normally reply within a few hours on business days.

What length should I choose?
The length determines how many knives your knife rail can hold. A simple method is to line up your knives with the spacing you want. Then measure the total width – this will give you the minimum length your new knife rail should be.
Which rails are the strongest?
We design our rails so that a standard rail of 4.5 cm in width has more than enough power for the vast majority of kitchen knives. The width is therefore primarily about design, as the magnetic strength is the same across widths within the same series.
- Rails 4.5–8.5 cm wide have the same magnetic force.
- Rails in 10–28 cm width have approximately 50% stronger magnetic force.
- All X-tra Strong designs have 100% stronger magnetic force than the standard models.
If you have very large or heavy knives, we recommend a wide or X-tra Strong model. This provides a larger magnetic contact surface and ensures that the knives sit extra stably.
Do you need help?
If you are in doubt about which splint to choose, you are always welcome to contact us by email at info@rune-jakobsen.dk
All measurements in our webshop are given in centimeters (cm). If you use inches, here is a quick overview:
cm → inches: multiply by 0.39
inches → cm: multiply by 2.54
Examples:
| cm | inches |
|---|---|
| 20cm | 7.9″ |
| 40cm | 15.7″ |
| 60cm | 23.6″ |
| 80cm | 31.5″ |
| inches | cm |
|---|---|
| 10″ | 25.4cm |
| 20″ | 50.8cm |
| 30″ | 76.2cm |
If you need an exact conversion, a quick Google search — e.g. "20 cm in inches" — is the easiest solution.
All knife rails come with two hidden keyhole fittings on the back. We use different types of fittings depending on the design, but the principle is the same.

2 screws are drilled into the wall to which the rail is attached. Screws and raw plugs are included with the order.
If you want to mount without screws, you can use mounting glue or strong double-sided tape. We usually recommend No More Nails from Pattex, but any mounting glue will work as long as your kitchen knives are not too heavy and the wall is 100% flat.
When ordering, please leave a note in the shopping cart so that we make the back completely smooth without oil treatment, so that your chosen tape or adhesive sticks better.
Alternatively, we can place the brackets at a distance that matches two joints in a tiled wall. This simply requires that we be informed of the exact distance between two joints when ordering.
Mounting with magnets
If you prefer a completely screw- and adhesive-free solution, we offer the Knifeboard Magnetic — a knife rail with a magnetic backing designed to mount directly on your refrigerator, extractor hood, or any other magnetic surface. The rail goes up and comes down without tools and without leaving a mark.
If you want magnetic suspension on one of our other designs, it is possible to get it as a customized solution. Write to Kari at info@rune-jakobsen.dk and we will find the right solution for you.
(Please note that all warranties will be void if the knife rail is mounted without the use of mounting brackets.)
To keep both your knives and your knife holder in the best possible condition, always place the knives only when they are completely clean and absolutely dry. Moist blades can, over time, damage the surface and leave marks.
Wipe your magnetic knife rail or knife block regularly with a slightly damp cloth and avoid using detergents or harsh chemicals. If needed, refresh the surface with a soft cloth and a small amount of natural wood oil.
Avoid placing the product near strong heat sources or in direct sunlight, as this may dry out the wood and cause discolouration over time.
With proper care, your knife holder will retain its beautiful appearance and functionality for many years.
We only use carefully selected FSC certified furniture wood. The primary wood species are oak and walnut.
We finish all products with a food-approved oil.
PLEASE NOTE that we always try to create unique and well-crafted products with an exciting visual expression and play of colours. You should therefore take our photos as a guide and not as a guarantee of how the finished product will appear.
Remember that wood is a living material. No two pieces of wood are the same, so all product photos are indicative.
You can benefit from surfing around our website and seeing examples of products we have made in the different wood species to get a better impression of the wood's colour variations, structure and expression.
If you are in doubt about choosing a wood species for a product, you are very welcome to contact us to discuss the options. We are happy to advise and inspire 😊

Real Products, Honest Images
For us, craftsmanship, materials and aesthetics take centre stage. Our product photos should give you an honest and inspiring impression of what you're getting – without unnecessary staging.
The vast majority of product photos in our webshop are therefore taken by us – whether it's a mill, a knife holder, a serving board or one of our textiles. The images of our wooden products always show real, handcrafted pieces, photographed before they are packed and shipped to their new owners.
To help you imagine how the products look in different homes and kitchens, we sometimes place these original photographs into AI-generated interiors or backgrounds. Only the background is artificial – the product itself is never altered or AI-generated. Every grain, edge, colour and detail you see belongs to the physical piece we made.
From time to time, we also receive photos from happy customers who kindly allow us to use them in the webshop. These images offer an honest and inspiring glimpse of how our products look in real homes and surroundings.
No artificial product renders. No misleading visual enhancements. Just real craftsmanship, photographed honestly.
Reference images when choosing a variant
We are constantly expanding our product gallery. As many of our products come in a wide range of sizes and variants, we don't yet have photos of them all. The image shown for your selection therefore primarily illustrates the chosen wood type – not necessarily the specific size or design variation.
Every piece of wood is unique
Wood is a living, natural material, and our passion is creating unique products with character. Grain patterns and colour tones will therefore naturally vary from piece to piece. Please consider our images as guiding inspiration and an indication of the quality we deliver.
In doubt? We're happy to help.
