Sake glass in Edo Kiriko, “Dandelion”, by Satoshi Nabetani

This Edo Kiriko sake glass was designed and carved by traditional craftsman Satoshi Nabetani .

At first glance, the pattern appears graphic and discreet – but when you look down into the glass, a hidden flower is revealed: a “dandelion”, shaped in a fresh green play of colors, hidden in the cut.

The subtle expression makes the glass a gift with broad appeal. The design does not immediately read as a floral motif, making it ideal for those who prefer a more masculine, strict and modern expression – or who are not into the “cute” and ornate.

The fresh green tone (the leaves that sprout quickly) is perfect for a cool, crisp glass of sake served. When the glass is chilled, the crystal and cut take on a special clarity, emphasizing the vibrant play of the pattern.

Characteristics of a good sake glass

A sake glass (ochoko) is created to enhance the aroma and temperature of sake. The shape lies easily in the hand and makes it easy to enjoy sake chilled – and with Edo Kiriko, the serving itself becomes part of the experience: light, color and precision come together in one single object.
