The Bunka knife is a traditional Japanese all-purpose kitchen knife, particularly noted for its versatility. It has a characteristically wide blade with a distinctive, downward-slanting tip (called a "kiritzuke" tip), which gives the knife both precision and strength. The blade typically measures between 16 and 20 cm.

The Bunka knife combines the characteristics of a Santoku (wide blade for chopping) and a kiritsuke (precise point for fine cuts), making it ideal for vegetables, meat and fish. Bunka knives are often forged from hard Japanese steels, which provide extreme sharpness and long durability, but also require a little more maintenance than Western knives.
