A small canister in hand-worked copper with a domed lid – modelled on the old Indian tins that protected tea and spices from heat and humidity.

The model is named India because its inspiration comes from the Gandhara region. There, tea leaves and spices were packed in tight-fitting metal tins to keep out the hot, humid air. Sakami Kogei in Tokyo has adopted the shape and makes the canister in copper – a metal the family has worked with for generations.

The inside is tin-lined, so the contents take on no metallic taste. Use it for tea, spices, dry goods – or cotton buds and other small things that deserve better than a plastic tub. It sits as well on a kitchen shelf as in the bathroom.

The copper is polished on delivery and develops a warm, darker patina over time where hands touch it. Looked after, it will last a lifetime.

Kogei products are made in very limited quantities by small workshops in Japan and may therefore be sold out from time to time. Contact us at info@rune-jakobsen.dk if you would like to know the delivery status of a sold-out product.
