In a market dominated by standardized knife rails and knife blocks, we choose a different approach. At Rune-Jakobsen Design, each and every knife holder is made to order in our small specialized cabinetmaking workshop in Denmark — with great care, respect for the materials and in close dialogue with you as the customer.

For almost 10 years we have been custom-making knife holders for private customers all over the world. All products are produced individually in our workshop in the northernmost part of Denmark, where we — Kari and Torben — are responsible for the entire process ourselves, from design and material selection to finished finish. No mass production. No intermediaries. Full responsibility for quality and results.
Fully magnetic design — free placement, secure hold
Our knife holders differ significantly from traditional solutions in that they are fully magnetic. This means that you can place your knives freely across the entire surface — without restrictions and without the risk of them slipping or being attracted to each other.
Where many manufacturers settle for point magnetism and cheap disc magnets, we use multiple, uninterrupted rows of powerful, top-quality Neodymium magnets — custom-made and imported directly from our trusted manufacturer, elegantly and invisibly encapsulated in the wood. Each knife thus achieves multiple contact points on the blade, providing a significantly better and more secure hold.
For those rare cases where a knife is unusually heavy or has low magnetic content, we offer our X-tra Strong series with approximately double the magnetic attraction compared to the standard models. We are happy to advise you so that you get the right solution from the start.
Complete craftsmanship — from material selection to finish
We consider our knife holders to be functional pieces of furniture, and this is reflected in the entire manufacturing process. From the carefully selected FSC-certified oak or walnut to the meticulous manufacturing and final hand sanding, which results in a smooth, harmonious surface and a finish that ages gracefully.
Finally, an environmentally friendly furniture oil is applied, and each product is discreetly stamped with our signature — Rune-Jakobsen — as a seal of quality for good Danish craftsmanship and responsible production.
Standard or customized — at no extra cost
In the webshop you will find a selection of proven standard designs. But we also offer custom-made solutions with special dimensions, adaptation of fittings and special suspension solutions. Minor adaptations are carried out at no additional cost, and we are happy to advise without obligation.
All knife holders are supplied with concealed fittings and necessary mounting hardware. If you wish to mount without screws — e.g. on a tiled wall — we can produce the rail without suspension, ready for mounting glue. Simply write your wishes in the comments field when ordering.

We know that ordering a handmade product without seeing it physically takes trust. That's why we offer a full return policy — even on custom-made knife holders. If the product doesn't meet your expectations, we'll of course take it back.
