Takeshi Saji
Takeshi Saji is a renowned Japanese knifemaker with over 50 years of experience in the craft.
As the third generation in a family of blacksmiths in Takefu, Fukui Prefecture, at the age of 44 he was officially certified as a "Traditional Master Craftsman" by the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
He is known for his complex and innovative blade designs, including his popular colored Damascus steel, which combines aesthetics with functionality. His knives are known for extreme sharpness, durability, and resistance to wear, ensuring reliable and effective performance over many years.
As one of the original founders of Takefu Knife Village, a blacksmithing complex near Echizen in Fukui, Saji continues to refine his knives in collaboration with his apprentice and handle maker, Kazuo Nomura.
